Ready. Set. Explode: New Albums by Bear In Heaven and AU Out Today.
I’ve been sitting here, trying to say it all.
I’ve got two albums sitting in front of me. Beyond that, rain hits the window I look out every day. The plane beyond my screen. The glass through which I’ve watched Adam Wills, Joe Stickney, Jon Philpot, Luke Wyland, and Dana Valatka ascend our steps. I hear a van door shut and I turn the knob of the front door and I walk outside.
There you are, Bear In Heaven.
There you are, AU.When you hold a record in your hands, you’re standing on the road that brought you to it. This morning, I’m hovering over an entire landscape. Grass rattles on the marshes of Savannah. Snow melts and drips off ferns crawling up Portland’s hills. Rivers churn between all of us, soundtracking our distance. Today’s simple fact: we’re releasing the music of our oldest and newest friends. In one breath and two needle drops, they say it all for me.
You can walk in a metaphor. You can walk to the store.
If there were ever a day to understand Hometapes, to see the flashes of light that add up to stacks of vinyl, amps humming on stage, and clickable links, this is it.With the strength and pure phrase of these names
I Love You, It’s Cool
Both LightsWith every wild wind in my chest, all attributable to men I’d carve words into rocks for if the printing presses stopped
I’ll say what I always want to say, as I look you in the eye —
Just listen.

Bear In Heaven I Love You, It’s Cool
BUY: LP/CD or DIG
MP3: Bear In Heaven “The Reflection of You”
MP3: Bear In Heaven “Sinful Nature”“Yet the ultimate kiss-off is delivered in Philpot’s deceptively sinister intonation, ‘I know what it is/It’s a phase/You just don’t know.’ The power lies in the pregnant pause between ‘phase’ and ‘you,’ imbuing the line with devastation and regret. It’s subtle moments like these that illustrate just how far Bear in Heaven have progressed as songwriters, and I Love You, It’s Cool is an album rife with them.” Under The Radar
Released in partnership with our friends Dead Oceans.
